Grandma....you did this

"I don't pick my clothes out the night before. I just wake up and put on what I feel. Especially if I don't have to iron it."     - Grandma J

Every day I get dressed I ask myself, what would Grandma wear? Everything I am is a reflection of her, especially in style. Some children get their brothers/sisters/cousins hand me downs. I got Grandma's. Liz Claiborne suits (like the one photoed), Ralph Lauren slacks, Talbot's blouses. Nothing but quality.

She is behind my vintage persona. We bond over the racks of thrift stores. Grandma still til' this day looks like money but doesn't spend much on her wardrobe at all. She knows we are one and the same so if she sees two of the same pieces she grabs one for me.  She cleans her closets (yes closets) often and I always get first dibs on some of the most timeless fashions. Not to mention she sews, so what she can't find she creates.

Grandma taught me to appreciate cuffs in pants, pockets in dresses and tailored blazers. Pleats in trousers, tassels on loafers and high cushioned shoulder pads. Because of her, I make sure my stripes and plaids are aligned. She taught me class and grace through fashion. I'm forever grateful.
